Our Approach

Empowering Women's Well-being

There is a strong connection between mental health and women's health. Many women face unique biological, hormonal, and life-stage factors that can significantly impact emotional well-being — from reproductive health transitions to the everyday pressures of balancing work, relationships, and self-care.

Women are also more likely to experience delayed or missed diagnoses of ADHD because symptoms often present differently than the traditional patterns historically recognized in boys. As a result, many women spend years struggling with anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, low self-esteem, or feeling misunderstood before receiving the support they need.

At Ruma Behavioral Health, we recognize that mental health does not exist in isolation. We take a whole-person approach that considers the unique biological, psychological, and social factors that affect women's lives.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

All new patients begin with a complimentary 15-minute consultation call. This gives us both the opportunity to make sure we are a good fit for each other before scheduling a full appointment. You can book this call through the link on our website.

At this time, Ruma Behavioral Health serves patients located within the state of Arkansas only. Telehealth licensure requirements mean you must be physically located in Arkansas at the time of each appointment.

All appointments are conducted via real-time audio and video technology, so a stable internet connection is required. You will also need a device with a working camera and microphone, and a private, quiet space. In addition, patients are required to take and report their blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight at each appointment as part of your ongoing care.

It is my personal philosophy not to prescribe controlled substances, including benzodiazepines (such as Xanax, Klonopin, or Valium) or stimulant medications (such as Adderall or Ritalin). If you require these medications as part of your treatment, I would not be the right fit for your care, and I encourage you to seek a provider who can meet that need.

Yes! Ruma Behavioral Health accepts Carelon BH, Cigna, BCBS of Massachusetts, and Aetna. We also welcome cash-pay patients. For cash-pay patients, we provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes all the information your insurance company needs to process a reimbursement claim. It includes diagnosis codes, procedure codes, provider information, and the amount you paid.

If your insurance plan is not one we currently accept, many plans include out-of-network benefits that may reimburse a portion of your costs. We recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before your first appointment.

The No Surprises Act protects patients from unexpected medical bills. As a self-pay patient, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before your appointment. We are happy to provide this upon request.

We strive to offer appointments within 2 weeks of your initial inquiry, so you can access timely, compassionate care without a long wait.

Ruma Behavioral Health specializes in care for adult women (18+). We do not currently provide services for children or adolescents.
